It's a Lovely Cake - Jewellery Giveaway

Ok so its that time of the week again! The Winner of the Eye of the Storm Necklace is Kristen from On Our Way Someday. Congratulations! If you can get your address to me I will post it out asap!

Now lucky ladies I have yet another amazing giveaway from another amazing Welsh based Etsy Store!! Yay!! See us Welsh were very crafty we are! Lol!
This weeks giveaway is this stunning lime green bead and button bracelet from 'It's A Lovely Cake'. It is beautiful, I would keep it for myself if I could. This would add a bit of Zing to any outfit! The adorable ladies who run the store kindly agreed to answer my questions, so read my mini interview below for an insight into the slightly mad world of 'It's A Lovely Cake'.

1. Whats your name and where do you come from? Hi! Our names are Mud and Sarah. We both grew up in Cardiff in South Wales, UK. We both live together in the wonderful seaside town of Barry.
2. How long have you been making your designs? We have been designing jewellery for close to three years now, when we both started college. Our online shop has been open since May 2007.
3. Why did you name your shop It's A Lovely Cake''? Haha. It all came from a small inside joke with a bunch of friends in school. A friend of ours was particularly good at saying it in a northern English accent....kinda one of those things where you had to be there haha. We thought it sounded cute as well as an interesting and intriguing name for our jewellery shop.
4. Whats your favourite materials to work with? Well our very very most fovourite materials to work with are the beautiful mixed vintage and found things that are very kindly donated to us by our beautiful friends and family. Grandmothers rock! We love to use mixed materials in our pieces. The more textures on a piece the more detail and effect it gives. Sarah went traveling to Asia a year or so ago and came back with hundreds of exotic goodies to play with. Other than that we love love love big chunky interesting beads and crystals. And buttons of course!!
5. Of your items which is your favourite? Our favorite items have got to our bibs! They make such a statement and they are so complimentary to your chest. Each one takes weeks to gather materials, design and make. A lot of work goes into them. The sea life bib in particular took about 3 months to collect all the amazing bits and trinkets perfect for the design.
6. Where do you get your inspiration for your designs and also their names? We only give items names if it's going to be funny. Like Skronkbeast for example haha or Holy Beluga!!! Our designs are fun so the names should be too as far as we're concerned. We made a rainbow button necklace once which had toy lions on it and we called it a gay pride of lions. We have a sense of humor :D. As far as inspiration goes....we could probably go on forever! A lot of our friends and family are artists in one way or another so they influence us a lot...we've done collaborations with an amazing graffiti artist from Cardiff so props out to SKWERM/SLIG/STD!! Music is probably our main inspiration...or life energy. Every day we start the morning with a healthy dose of coffee, soul, funk and a smoke! Animals, pictures, people, music, trees, flowers, wool, fire, snow, rain, scraps, snakes and lint. That's our inspiration :D. Free your mind and your ass will follow.
7. Do you have any formal training or did this start as a hobby? Both of us have always been really crafty and imaginative since we were children. Neither of us has had any formal training but we have definitely learned a lot over the years. The main reason we set up our shop was because Sarah needed the money for manga and vinyl.
8. Do you have any favourite etsy shops which you buy from? Berkley Illustrations and Vrooooom. Two fantastic art shops. We love them and have a small collection of their works :)
9. Whats your dream for 2010? When Sarah was in Vietnam she didn't have enough cash on her to send a parcel of beads by airmail so she sent them by boat. It's been nearly two years now. I hope it arrives! We also hope to launch our clothing range! But hush hush ;)
10. What's you favourite flower? Mud's neutral to flowers. She's neither here or there. She'd rather look at a bat. Sarah loves orchids because they are every where in Asia and they remind her of her travels. She also loves birds of paradise flowers, passion fruit flowers and cannabis flowers!
