Police Arrest Woman for Trying to Set Church Ablaze

Nemesis caught up with one Lydia Joseph recently after she attempted to burn down St. John Catholic Church building in Bauchi State. The suspect, a prostitute who was being converted by the Charismatic Renewal Ministry of the church, was said to have walked into the premises on the faithful day with a jerrycan of fuel and a match box.

The "repentant" prostitute, we gathered, lied to the security men that the content of the jerrycan was kerosene meant for domestic use and that she only wanted to pray. But as soon as she gained entrance into the main church building, the suspect poured the fuel on the pews and lit them with a lighter and immediately tried to escape before she was apprehended.

The Police in Bauchi confirmed the incident and added that the suspect is being investigated to ascertain her motive for trying to set the church ablaze.
