Poverty Pushes Another Lagos Big Girl Into Prostitution

What would you do if, after many years of leaving a flamboyant lifestyle devoid of basic financial discipline, you are now unable to put food on the table and most of your friends and associates have deserted you like someone with a plaque? What category of job will you apply for or what sort of business will you venture into, knowing that you didn’t lived according to acceptable norms and standards in the past?

Would you resort to easy virtues? Or, alternatively, can you summon courage to pick up what’s left of your battered credibility and begin a new phase that would restore your dignity? Well, my guess is anyone who has gotten a grasp of the fact that life is in seasons will settle for the latter. But that doesn’t seem to be the case with popular Lagos socialite, Sekinat Williams, who - according to a report I monitored on MordernGhana - has resorted to selling her body for money.

Sekinat, who’s already in her late forties, was also said in the report to be running a prostitution ring right inside her residence in the Ikeja area of Lagos, where she supply ladies of easy virtues to male patrons for between N3,000 and N5,000. The lady was also alleged to be having it rough with her landlady at the moment due to her inability to pay the house rent, hence the decision to turn the place into an improvised brothel and make some fast cash.

Sekinat’s “shameful lifestyle” is said to be the source of a brewing crisis between she and her daughter, a situation that has led the daughter (names withheld) to move out of the house. Also, one of her close friend and benefactor, Tope Doherty, is said to have also deserted her... You may wish to know that this same Sekinat Williams was deported from the United States of America in 2004 for an “unspecified criminal activity”.
