Popular Nigerian Pastor Plans His Own Burial

Keep my funeral simple, make it easy. Use the money you want to lavish on me to pay school fees for children who need it. In fact, I will even buy my own coffin. Don’t buy Coca Cola for anybody. Don’t! I am serious about it. Let’s do things in an efficient way. What you want to spend for me, don’t wait until I die, give me the money now and let me enjoy now”!

Those were the words of the pastor of Trinity House Church, Pastor Olajide Ituah Igbodalo, while delivering a sermon titled ‘The Laws of Life’ in Victoria Island recently. He questioned the rationale behind borrowing money to celebrate burial and blocking streets because of a dead man when those alive have not been taken care of. He further warned his church members against his own funeral, saying “Don’t go and borrow money to do my burial. I don’t need it. I will be dead then, use the money on those still alive.”

It would be recalled that Pastor Ighodalo was “expelled” from the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 2009 following his marriage to former Miss Lux, Ibidunni Ajayi, when his ex-wife is still alive... Hmm na wa o, with this kind of sermon, could it be that he’s seeing something which others are not?
