Six Killed, Ten Injured in Third Mainland Accident

No fewer than six persons on board a commercial bus lost their lives on Monday when it somersaulted on the Third Mainland, injuring about then others in the process. The accident, according to eyewitnesses, occurred about noon after the bus (a Mazda), which was on top speed, witnessed a burst tyre that led to the accident.

A policeman at the scene told journalists that the driver immediately lost control of the 18-seater bus which hit the pavement severally before it eventually somersaulted. It remained upturned with its tyres facing the sky for hours, leading to heavy traffic on the bridge, until the intervention of LATSMA officials who towed it away... May the souls of the departed rest in peace.
