BlackBerry Users Drag RIM to Court for Service Failure

For failing to compensate BlackBerry users for the losses they incurred during a five-continent service disruption few weeks back, Research in Motion (RIM) has been dragged before a federal high court in California on behalf of all US consumers.

The system-wide failure of the service had left tens of millions of frustrated BlackBerry users without email, instant messaging and browsing for four days. In the suit, RIM is accused of breach of contract, negligence and unjust enrichment.

You may wish to know that...
RIM's CEOs had apologized to BlackBerry users for the four-day outage immediately the service was restored, but all that didn't go far as the consumers seem to want something more than a 'mere apology'.

Also another lawsuit have been filed in Quebec Superior Court on behalf of all BlackBerry owners in Canada over the same issue.

United States plaintiffs are seeking damages, including cash compensation for service fees along with attorneys' fees and legal expenses. They estimate that RIM earns at least $3.4 million per day in service revenue, collected from CUSTOMERS through carrier networks including Sprint and Verizon.

Is there a possibility that BlackBerry users in Nigeria will come together to seek for there own compensation too? Or would they ignore it and move on in the spirit of 'business as usual' that makes Nigerian public office holders to get away with just anything?

I think Nigerian BlackBerry users will not consider such action. I really don't think so!
