What crime could a wife commit that would warrant her husband to strangle her to death? Why is it becoming increasing difficult for two mature adults – man and woman (husband and wife) – to live together without engaging each other in life-threatening squabbles over trivial issues?
Indeed, our world is no longer the same again. 'Badness' is gradually becoming a way of life for many. The situation is becoming so critical that anyone who’s opportune to have a spouse who respects the dignity of life should be eternally grateful.
In these harvests of 'badness', another married man is now telling homicide detectives of the Nigeria Police Force everything that transpired between him and his wife that made him took her life. Continue to read the story...
The long arm of the law has finally caught up with Mohammed Jibrilu, who killed his wife in a hotel room in Tafa town, Niger State and disappeared. The suspect was said to have strangulated his wife to death after he lured her from her father’s house in Garma town, Kwara State.
Jemilu was apprehended at the premises of a commercial bank in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, after he had been on the run for about five months. He was immediately driven to Minna by homicide detectives where they started interrogating him about the death of the graduate of Sociology, from the University of Abuja.
The police sources further revealed how the suspect initially denied committing the crime, adding that when he was confronted with some documents, which included, call logs from one of the service providers, he owned up to the crime. The record showed telephone calls he reportedly made before and after the death of his wife. He confessed committing the crime but said the incident ‘was a mistake’, the source said.
The relationship between Jubrilu and his wife reportedly degenerated a year after they got married. Hadiza became aware of some secret deals her husband was involved in, which included alleged fraudulent (419) activities. At a point, Hadiza was arrested in place of her husband but her husband’s friends secured her release from the police cell in Abuja. This made her to abandon her matrimonial home and relocated to her parents’ house in Gama town.
It was at Garma that Jubrilu pleaded with her parents to allow her join him, promising to turn a new leaf. According to the findings, it was on their way to Kano that the couple decided to lodge in a hotel in Tafa town, with a plan to continue the journey the next day. According to the findings, the suspect reportedly told hotel attendants in the morning that his wife was ‘too weak and needed some rest’, promising to be back from Abuja later in the day.
When the hotel attendants waited in vain for Hadiza to come out of her hotel room, they peeped through the window, only to discover that she was still ‘sleeping’.
They invited policemen, who forced the door open. She was found dead, with blood in her nostrils and finger nail cuts on her neck. After her tragic death, efforts to trace Jubrilu proved abortive as he disappeared into thin air. He was even absent during the burial of his late wife.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oguche Adamu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that he would be charged to court immediately investigations into the matter were concluded. The deceased’s father, a retired Judge in Kwara State, Justice Atoyebi, thanked God for the suspect’s arrest and urged the police to ensure that justice is not only done but must be seen to have been done.
The deceased, Hadiza, was murdered on May 19, 2011... Expect more updates on this matter when the case finally gets to the court.
