Fellow Nigerians, bad things don dey happen under the guise of pilgrimage o! I hear it is the latest trick through which our girls are been trafficked to Saudi Arabia for prostitution. Current statistics - according to the executive secretary of NAPTIP, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba - also indicate that 60% of the prostitutes in Turin, Italy and Antwerp in Belgium are Nigerians girls.
Speaking on the matter in Abuja recently, the NAPTIP boss told...
House of Reps committee on Diaspora members that her Agency is on top of the situation and that they are working round the clock to frustrate the activities of traffickers. She however called for the support of relevant stakeholders to help check the negative trend.
Is anyone surprised about this revelation? I don't think so, just that 60% is kind of on the high side and it tells of how desperation some Nigerian ladies have become. Some of these girls can still find something to do back home but have chosen this despicable part out of greed. Many do not really want to work these days, but always want to be among the first to flaunt every latest stuff in the market.
The case of Nigeria is such a sad one... A good number of her political leaders are selfish to the bone; siphoning public funds for the comfort of their immediate family, while some of her young ladies and guys are only interested in easy money. No wonder many hard working men are finding it increasingly difficult to meet up with the ever demanding nature of their woman. Moral crises!
