As at the last count, no fewer than 136 people have been confirmed dead in the wake of the simultaneous attacks, bombings and shooting in Maiduguri and Damaturu over the Sallah weekend.
Howe else can one describe these orgy of killings and wanton destruction of public property which has been ascribed to the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram? Well, it is clear that members of the Boko Haram are not in the mood for any 'rubbish' celebration, a source pointed out.

As our Muslim brothers went about doing last minute shopping for Sallah, Boko Haram inspired bomb attacks in Yobe and Maiduguru, north-eastern Nigerian, left over 130 dead. Eyewitnesses said the bombs hit several targets, including the headquarters of the Yobe state police command, three other police stations, a branch of First Bank and other public places.
Residents of the two cities are fleeing even as the police and other security agencies seem to be helpless in the gun battle which lasted for several hours.

Anxious relatives are trooping into the hospital in search of loved ones. Also, a senior local government official in the city, who said he did not have permission to speak to the media, also disclosed that the hospital is filled with injured victims of the attacks.
In his words: “The general hospital is full with people who were injured in the attack. If I say there are hundreds injured, it’s not an over-estimation. Everywhere is full with the injured.”
I hear the state police commissioner said they were caught unawareness by the attackers... Anyone who has their ears should help plead with these guys and talked them into a cease fire. The killings are becoming too much, please!
