Keshi Steps in as Super Eagles Coach, Siasia Heads to Court

As predicted by yours truly in a report early last week, the executive committee of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, has appointed Stephen Keshi as the new Coach of the Super Eagles. His initial contract will be for six months during which he will...
earn N3m as monthly salary, against his predecessor's monthly pay of N5m. The NFF, however, disclosed that his salary will be reviewed upwards once his six months interim appointment is confirmed. According to a release by the NFF, the decision to appoint Keshi as a replacement for Siasia was unanimous.

Now to the real issues: Keshi targets are to qualify Nigeria for the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa as well as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where he is expected to take the Super Eagles to at least the quarter-finals of both competitions. Recall that it was in this regards that Siasia fall our hand.

Amid speculations that Sunday Oliseh will be appointed as assistant Coach, the NFF said it has no such plans and that Keshi will be allowed to pick his own men. Also, former coach, Samson Siasia has dragged the NFF to court for 'Breach of Contract', but that's another story.

So, it's on this note that we welcome Stephen Keshi to the hot seat of Super Eagles coach, a position where 'friendship' is strictly by the number of matches you win... Congratulations Keshi, on your new assignment!
