D’banj’s ‘Oliver Twist’ Not Banned

Following a twit by controversial rapper, Ruggedman, alleging that one of the hottest urban music in Nigeria today, Oliver Twist by D’banj, has been banned by the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation, not a few entertainment buffs have condemned the regulatory organisation for what they termed an insensitive action.

But it seems the last has not been heard on the matter. Below is a comment by the commission’s spokesperson on the issue:

“We have no reason to ban any song that has no tendency to cause turmoil, crisis or affects the integrity of persons, individuals, groups or society at large. There are many other rules and regulations which govern airplays on Nigerian broadcasting media and as far as I am concerned the song has not breached any, and such reports indicating it was banned are untrue”.

You may wish to know that the ‘Oliver Twist Video Competition’ is still waxing stronger on the internet, with several groups and individuals sending entries... So, if the above quote is the true position, then one will be forced to ask: Where did Ruggedman got his information from in the first instance?
