We Shall Overcome this Challenge, Says President Jonathan

At first, President Goodluck Jonathan dismissed insinuation in certain quarters that he did not take the threat alert by the US seriously. The president said not only did he take the warning serious, he's doing everything possible to guarantee the safety of Nigerians and all those living and doing business in the country. He pleaded with all to give him a little more time to find a lasting solution to the current security challenge.

Then in a statement at the Presidential Dialogue with CEOs of global corporations on Nigeria's Political Leadership at the 17th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on Thursday, Mr. president said...

"Terrorism is a global phenomenon. We are very much aware of what happened in England during the IRA uprising. We are doing all we can to bring the issue to an end. The issue of Boko Haram that we are experiencing today in Nigeria is nothing new globally. Most countries of the world had experienced terrorist attacks in their long history. These are temporary challenges we have and definitely we shall get over it".

Lets hope the president meant well for this country and will do what he promised, but we must continue to engage him hard until tangible results are achieved and Nigerians are safe again. From what I observed, many security chiefs and top government officials in Abuja are not resting over this issue, thanks to the pressure of well-meaning Nigerians.

Nigerians, must not get tired of tackling the government on issues of National security.
