Eddie Murphy The Worst Oscar Host?

Eddie Murphy, Tower Heist, Brett Ratner, Academy Award, Oscar, Saturday Night Live, Entertainment, February 2012

Funny man Eddie Murphy thinks he is going to be the worst host of the Oscars ever.

The Tower Heist star will be presenting the prestigious movie event in February 2012, and despite executives behind the ceremony being keen to have him, he does not have so much confidence in himself and is concerned he may wet himself on stage.

He says "I think it's so funny that people think I'm the perfect guy for this. I'm going to be horrendous. I'm going to be the worst host ever."

"I'm going to be introducing people and looking straight to the camera. And i'm going to wear a powdered sky blue tuxedo and at the end of the evening, I'm going to urinate on myself in front of a billion people. Just letting you know - the worst hot ever."

The comedy star also joked the only agreed to host the show because Brett Ratner, who directed him in Tower Heist and producing the Oscars, and him joked it would be good promotion for the film.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "I was like, 'You know, if I hosted that show, it would probably get nice little chatter for our movie before the movie came out.' And that's kind of how it happened."

Michelle Williams Oscar Buzz

Will Michelle Williams be nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn?

From the website www.ropeofsilicon.com:

"Michelle Williams has been flirting with a second Oscar nomination for some time now and while a lot of people are talking about her performance in Blue Valentine this year I think they're forgetting about how great she was in Shutter Island. While she's looking like a dark horse for this year's Oscar, perhaps a performance as Marilyn Monroe will be enough to earn her a slot among 2011's Oscar Elite."

Wouldn't it be ironic if Williams were to win the highest honor for acting for her portrayal of Monroe, the same award that forever eluded Marilyn? Marilyn won numerous awards in the US for acting, but was never nominated for an Oscar. France and Italy recognized Marilyn's Acting skills and awarded her their equivalent of the Oscar, but sadly she never received this same level of respect in her home country.

1958: David di Donatello Prize (Italian equivalent of the Oscar)
Best Foreign Actress of 1958 - The Prince and the Showgirl

1959: Crystal Star Award (French equivalent of the Oscar)
Best Foreign Actress - The Prince and the Showgirl

1960: Golden Globe Award
Best Actress in a Comedy - Some Like It Hot

Marilyn Monroe Ranked "#1 Never Nominated" by Entertainment Weekly

In the February 12 issue of Entertainment Weekly, Marilyn Monroe is ranked number one in stars never nominated for an Oscar. Marilyn tops the list of 20 top celebrities never receiving a nod from the Academy.

From the article: "An icon in her own time, Monroe rarely strayed from characters who mirrored her own irresistible persona. but that glamour and mystique just enhanced her turns as an unsophisticated saloon sired in Bus Stop (1956) and a boozy ukulele player in Some Like It Hot (1959). Though her dramatic skills were constantly overlooked, acting guru Lee Strasberg once ranked her second only to Marlon Brando in talent.
