Just a quick hello

Hello Ladies, I am very sorry for my absence But as some of you may know I have moved house. And until you actually move you have no idea how much stuff is in your house. Turns out our little flat had 4 van loads and 5 car loads of stuff!! Which took forever to move. And is now taking forever to sort. Plus I didn't have internet for a week, while I was waiting for it to be installed in the new place.

So I promise I will be back soon, once I have gotten things a little more sorted.

See you soon!

Just Some Classic Movie Ramblings...

So, yesterday I went to my parents evening at my school (yes on thanksgiving) and the general consensus was that I was a good student (thank gawd). It was quite awkward when my humanities (history, RE, geography) teacher, on hearing I want to take history as an option, told me that they study America in the 20s. I went "Yaaaayyyy!!!" It was a good thing I refrained from saying "CHARLIE CHAPLIN!!! THE CHARLESTON!!! FRANK CAPRA!!!" But then he said "We see some film clips too. I love film clips." That was It. I said "I love them too!" Oops I regret it now.
When my English teacher (who is awesome because she also teaches film studies at A-Level) said "What have you been reading recently?", and I said "Well, I'm reading Rebbeca at the moment, and I read Jane Eyre," Then she said "What about over the  summer?", She caught me out. "Errrrr, classic movie books?"

Yeah, then my language teacher told me to read in other languages. Does a Spanish Bette Davis appreciation blog count? While I'm on the subject of Charlie Chaplin, I'll just post a video of my favourite Chaplin movie, Modern Times.

The other parts are linked after you have seen that bit, I hope... Ha! LOL! Just translated the Spanish quotation from Of Human Bondage from Bette Davis' character and it came up as:
You're a Sweetheart, a disgusting pig! I've never imported a single day. I've been teasing you! I was bored to death. I hated it! I felt nauseous every time you gave me a kiss. Just to let you hurt.
I crawled to my feet, I went crazy, and after he kissed me I had to wipe my mouth. Yes, I cleaned it! ... Do you know what you are, monster cojitranco? A disabled. Lame, but that lame!
Errrr, I don't know what the real speech is word for word, but it don't sound like that darlin'.

Meet our new baby bunnies

No fashion post today sorry, I have something far cuter!
Me and Jon have decided it was time for us to get a new rabbit or rabbits! We aren't over losing our little baby but we are missing having a pet in the house. So Thursday night we went to see a local breeder to see the little baby bunnies she had for sale. They were only 7 weeks old and so so cute. We found 2 that we totally feel in love with so we bought them both and we will be able to pick them up in 5 weeks time when we return from China. Here is a little video of them both.
The Blue (grey) is a female and the Sooty Fawn (brown and white) is a male. They are both miniture lop eareds. The male one totally choose me, rather than I choose him. He practically clambered out of the cage onto me whereas the others in the same cage weren't interested. He just kept licking my finger, he is so cute. He is mine and the female is Jons as he chose her. Now the thing is we don't know what to name them yet. So I am opening this up to suggestions? We want something cute and sweet and nothing too silly. Jon really like Delilah for the girl but we aren't set on it yet. And for the boy I have a million names I like, mostly Roo, Rodney and Butternut but I am also liking Pickle and my mum came up with Gershwin. But I really have no idea, so what would you guys name him? or her?
Thanks for the help.

Friend Friday: 10 Random Facts

This weeks Friend Friday post is a little different as we are not tackling a specific subject, instead we are all posting 10 random facts about ourselves that people might not know. But with this post I am going to kill two birds with one stone as I also got tagged this week by Miki with the Happy 101 tag and need to share 10 things that make me happy. So I shall be tackling both of these things in this post.

10 things you might not know about me

1. I live in Wales, ok so most of you know this, but lots of people don't actually know anything about Wales. It is a small country attached to England and part of the UK, but it IS a COUNTRY in it's own right, not part of England! The number of people who think it is a state or county in England is unbelievable. Although I live in Wales I do not speak Welsh, sadly.
2. I like to try out new foods. I am always happy to try something once, just incase I like it and just to be able to say I have. I don't think there is much I would actually turn down. I have tried Kangaroo, Ostrich, Pigeon, Guinea Fowl, Wild Boar and lots more. China should be interesting as I am gonna have fun trying lots of things!! hehe!!

3. I swam competitively between the ages of 8 and 13. And once swam for Wales in the junior team. I was a backstroker! But since giving up swimming when I was 13 I have only been back in a pool about a dozen times. I finished for a few reasons. It was taking over my life (try training 5 times a week and competing once week at the age of 10!) and it also made me ill for a while. So it took up dancing instead.

4. Whilst in school I joined the athletic team. Ok not that unusual, but I was a discuss thrower! Which considering home skinny I was back then always shocked/annoyed the people I competed against!

5. I would really like to get a tattoo but I am a complete chicken and totally needle-phobic. But I did watch Jon getting his done. I'm sure I will bite the bullet one day!

6. I love churches, yes its odd but I think they are really interesting and beautiful buildings. My dream home, for when I properly grow up, is a converted church. I have it perfectly built in my head, now I just need to find the church and the money!

7. I got together with Jon when I was 17 and got engaged in Florence, Kentucky when I was only 18. We agreed to wait till after I finished Uni to get married though. So as you will nearly all know we finally tied the knot in May this Year. Leading on from that. We will be off on our honeymoon in just 2 weeks. We are going to China for a month. We wanted to go somewhere a bit different, and we don't really like beaches!

8. I hate the sound of my own voice! I will never Karaoke in public! I have been on the radio a few times in my life but cannot ever listen to the recordings myself, nor do I like being in front of the camera so don't allow video cameras near me! My vlog posts on here are a big thing as it takes a lot for me to do them. Once they are sorted I never re watch them as I just cringe too much!

9. I'm a Guide! As in the girl guides! I have been involved since I was 5 and have helped run Brownie packs all my life. I am without a pack since finishing uni but hope to get into it again once I get out of working in the pub.

10. I like lots of random music! I have seen Meatloaf, Tom Jones, Dolly Parton, Jethro Tull and Rammestein in concert. All of which are totally different from each other, I'm just very eclectic! I love modern music to, just haven't had the opportunity to go to many shows.
See all the other FBFF ladies here

10 things that make me Happy!

1. My honey, Jon. Yes it's mushy, but I am usually happiest when I am with him.

2. Cwtches!! (it's a term we use for cuddles in wales) I love cwtches, usually with Jon but I'll take them with anyone really, hehe!

3. Being with my Best Friend, Heather. We don't get to see each other often as she lives in Sheffield but when we do it's like we haven't been apart at all. We always have a great time together!
4. Bunnies!! I love bunnies!! I miss my baby lots. But we are thinking about getting another after our trip.

5. Films. I love a good film. Me and Jon recently stuck all our old film stubs in an album and found out we saw 52 films in the cinema last year! Thats pretty impressive I feel. Plus we have a ridiculously big film collection.
6. A freshly made bed. I love getting under a quilt of a freshly made bed when it's nice and cool.

7. Hats! I have a small obsession with hats. And for a number of years in my teens I didn't leave the house without one, no matter where I was going.

8. Vintage! Photos, fashion, cars or home decor I love everything with a bit of age.
9. Crafting. Whether it be paper craft, sewing or just general creativeness, it always puts a smile on my face.

10. Blogging. Honest, blogging and writing in general makes me happy. I want to get into the situation where I can give up the day job and just write for a living!

Now I am meant to pass this onto 10 other bloggers. But I think lots of people have already done this. So if your reading this and haven't done it please feel free to take the tag.

I am now not only battling my bad back, but also a crappy cold, thanks to my honey! So feeling very rubbish and uninspired sorry!

30 for 30 Challenge and a giveaway.

I have joined the '30 for 30' challenge being run by Kendi Everyday so this is my first post. I'm a little late joining because I have been at home with my parents most of the week but am excited and looking forward to the challenge. So whats this all about? Well you have to choose 30 items of clothing and wear them for the next 30 days, remixing 30 different outfits. (this does not have to be done in 30 consecutive days but its kinda fun this way and more challenging). Belts, Sports wear, PJ and accessories don't count in the 30 but Jackets and Shoes do. Plus for the whole time you are on the challenge you can't shop. So this will be good for my bank balance too!

Here are my 30 items.

8 Tops
2 Vests
1 Jacket and 2 Cardigans

4 Dresses
4 Skirts
4 Bottoms
5 Shoes
I tried to think a bit strategically about choosing my items so this took, truthfully, about 3 hours! lol! I think I have enough items to last the 30 days and hopefully come up with 30 outfits without having to do anything ridiculous.
There are lots of lovely ladies involves in this challenge so you can check them all out here!

30 for 30 Banner

On another note I have finally, finally reached my 300 followers, yay!! So it's time for another giveaway. This time all the items are from me (not a shop like usual) as this is me thanking all my 300 followers. Because I love you all very much!
So on to the prizes!
A Lancome Paris Hypnose Mascara
A Nars LiquidLast Eye-Liner
An Eyeko Minty Fat Balm
A Flower Power Rose Moisture Balance Facial Mask
A cherry print Claire's Pen (for writing on ...)
A set of Beautiful Vintage Style Stationary Set

There you have it. A think there is a little something for everyone. But if I get lots of people entering I will add more items.

So the rules. This one is nice and easy.
  • Be a Follower
  • Leave me a comment on something you would like to see more of on my blog or something you like
  • Include an email or blog link so I can get hold of you
Thats all this time, just one entry per person.

oh forgot to say the giveaway will end on the 12th August (a long one this!)

Top 10 Beauties of the century utter rubbish!

I got in a right mood this week over a silly beauty rating. But I think I was justified and I'm very sure many of you would or already do agree with me. So, QVC recently surveyed british women to find out who they thought was the most beautiful woman of the 20th century. No surprise who won the overall vote!

The stunning Audrey Hepburn of course.

Well obviously that wasn't why I got so annoyed, she would have been my choice for number 1 too!

But lets see what you ladies think of this...

The top 10 most beautiful women were voted as:

1. Audrey Hepburn

2. Cheryl Cole

3. Marilyn Monroe

4. Angelina Jolie

5. Grace Kelly

6. Scarlett Johansson

7. Halle Berry

8. Diana, Princess of Wales

9. Kelly Brook

10. Jennifer Aniston

(in that order!!)

Now I'm sure you can see why I got so miffed! Who in God's name did QVC ask! Granted all these women are beautiful, but to be voted in the top 10 most beautiful women of the 20th century! Most annoying Cheryl Cole/Tweedy getting number 2! Really! I'm very sorry she may be lovely but she ain't that beautiful and she has cosmetic surgery, hair extensions, fake tan, make-up and Photoshop on her side unlike the true beauty of Audrey, Marilyn and Grace Kelly. The people they asked clearly didn't have that greater knowledge of women in history or outside our culture either! And it's so annoying! She is a 'flash in the pan' celebrity who's memory and beauty will never outlive the likes of Audrey. I would love to hold a vote of fashion/beauty bloggers (people who do understand style and beauty!) to see who they would choose for the top 10 (in fact I may well do this!)

Obviously this is a personal choice thing and you may all disagree with me. But if this was down to me I would probably remove Cheryl, Jolie, Johansson, Diana and Aniston from the top 10. Like I said they are beautiful but not the most beautiful of the last century. There are so many other women which could have been featured in it. Here are just a few ladies I would have considered more beautiful than half the women in the list.

Aishwarya RaiSandra Bullock
Sophia Loren
Penelope Cruz
Heidi Klum

Vivien Leigh
Rita Hayworth
Jackie Onassis
Elizabeth Taylor
Rachel Weisz
Even Dita Von Teese
Obviously there are so so many beautiful women and they cannot all be featured. But truthfully ladies if you had to choose your top 3 who would they be? Lets really try circulate this poll and see what we get. If you can post just a quick poll on your blog I would be very very greatful and we could see what us bloggers really think. If you do post it, just leave your link here and I will check it for the results.

Race for life - Cancer Research

Good evening ladies, todays is a different type of post. Im not the type of person to ask people for money but in this case I am. I shall be running the Race for Life on the 25th July in Swansea. Those of you in the UK will know what this event is but my readers from overseas may not so here is a brief explanation.
The Race for Life is a charity event which is held all over the UK though out the summer. Thousands of women pledge to walk, jog or run 5K to help raise money for Cancer research. This will be my 6th summer to do the event as I believe it is a hugely important charity to be supporting and thousands of people are effect due to cancer all over the world.
Usually I am only able to raise a small sum of money as I have only a limited number of people to ask. Now I have my blog I realise I have a much larger friendship circle and hope that I shall be able to reach or even exceed my £100 target for this year.
If you are able to sponsor please do, even the smallest amount of money will help us make a difference and hopefully one day we will find a cure and beat this terrible disease.
This is me and my sister and friends with Joanna Page before running the race last year.

So how can you donate. Well you may have noticed a new little gadget at the top of my left hand side bar. Just click there and pledge as little or as much as you can afford. It will go directly into the Race for Life charity fund and it is perfectly secure.

Thanks for reading this and thank you for any donations you are able to make.

Just A Quick One

Ok so this is just a really brief post as I am only on my break from work. Ridiculously long shifts for the next 2 days due to a Wales/Scotland match tomorrow.
So I just want to say a massive THANK YOU (again!) to Rowena from Red Ruby Rose. In this mornings post I received the most amazingly beautiful neon coloured clutch from her store, as a 'Thanks You' to me for hosting her giveaway. I shall get a pic of it up as soon as I can for you all to see. Its so so lovely!

And on to my even more exciting news!! Jon (the other half) booked our honeymoon earlier today, YAY!!! Very very excited. We are going on a 27 day tour of china in november! Yay! You can see it here. We have been hoping to plan it for a few months now but he finally booked us on today. So that kinda makes working these silly shifts just a little more bearable, as I know the extra money is going towards that.

I probably wont be able to post for the next few days as I am working all day tomorrow and then I am away for 3 days on a short romantic break to Hampshire for Valentines/me and Jon being together 5 years! So I shall announce the Gossimar Wings winner later in the week and see you all soon.

Sneaky Peek

No outfit post even though I said I would do one, I'm very sorry. But I have got some pics of my amazing clothes parcel off Patty Ann. We did a swap a few weeks ago and my parcel arrived this morning. I as so so please with everything she sent me. So I would like to say a big big THANK YOU to Patty Ann.
Missimo Supply Co stripped dress
Converse denim look dress
Rodart for Target T-shirt (amazingly the only piece from the collection that I would have bought myself, I love the lace pattern!)
Angel Wing Ring
Pearl Flower Ring
Cameo Earrings
I really adore the Angel Wing Ring and have been wearing it all day. It's kinda funny coz I have been looking for one all week after seeing one on another blog, but just haven't found one I liked and could afford, so was so pleased when I saw one nestled inside my parcel. And I got lots of comments on it in work tonight.
Expect to see these items cropping up in my outfits over the next few weeks.
I have just finished a swap with Valencia Lia too so am looking forward to my second parcel arriving. If anyone else fancies some kinda swap, just drop me a line because I have had so much fun doing these two.

Don't forget my giveaway girls, link in side bar at the top. This seems to be your favourite giveaway yet as there are loads of entries!

Good Night!

p.s. Having total clothing crisis over what to wear to see Rammestein on Wednesday! I have nothing Rock-worthy! Help!

Shopping Ban (kinda!)

Ok well I am putting myself on a kinda shopping ban! Now it's not a 'no shopping' kinda shopping ban, lol! I couldn't cope with that (although truthfully I buy very little as I am hugely lacking in funds). It's a 'no more impulsive buying' shopping ban. I am not allowing myself to buy anything just because it's pretty or cute, I have to need it or really have thought about it fitting into my current wardrobe. So a lot more thought before buying stuff. I have a list of things I would like to add to my current wardrobe and I am only going to look for them when ever I go shopping, and hopefully not get distracted by other things. I have actually been looking for a pair of Cowboy Boots for over 2 years because I am fussy and know exactly what kinda pair I am after. I want vintage (or vintage looking) ones that are oxblood red in colour but not with the typical pattern that all the high street ones have. Anyway, the ban! As I have mentioned I'm getting married in 15 weeks and we are currently saving to afford our dream honeymoon, a tour of china. We are hoping to go a few months after the wedding if we have saved enough money, hence the shopping ban.
So the list so far consists of
  • Said Cowboy Boots
  • White Lace Shift Dress
  • Braces
  • Tartan Dress
  • Plaid Pleated Skirt
  • Floral 50's Day Dress (with swing skirt)
  • Waistcoat
  • Long Cardigan (not black!)
  • Denim Dress
  • Button up lace or ruffle blouse
  • A few cute vintage pendant necklaces (for everyday wear)
  • Lace up boots
  • Net petticoat (for adding volume to skirts)
  • Polka-dot full circle skirt
  • Quilted Black Clutch
  • Pinafore Dress
  • A pretty summer shirtdress

I think that is all for now, but I have probably left some stuff out. So along with only buying these things I also want to buy them all second hand, vintage or from charity shops. Right, easy?!?! Or not?!?! But if anybody fancies donating something to my wardrobe just email me for my address, lol, only joking! Although I am up for some swaps if anyone fancies it. Im currently waiting on 2 surprise clothing parcels, one from Valencia (roll up your sleeve) and one from Patty Ann (AlphaBetaChic)

Don't forget this weeks giveaway, here.

Ok so it's nearly 6am, I haven't slept yet due to insomnia, (although I have managed the whole first season of Glee!! In love!!) I have a fun packed day though today. Work at 11 (ok not so fun) but then Salsa Class!!! Yay!! I love dancing and I love salsa. Have managed to learn most of the basic steps simply from watching from behind the bar, so I can have a really good go tonight.

Good Night/Good Morning!
