60's Themed Fancy Dress

It was my mother-in-law to be's hen do on the weekend and it was 60's theme fancy dress so I figured I would show you my make shift outfit.
Dress: Primark
Waistcoat: H&M
Tights: Vintage Mary Quant
Shoes: ASOS
Necklace: Vintage
Bangles: via Ebay
Hairband: Random
Belt: Random
Eyelashes: Girls Aloud Kimberly
We decided to go with the hippy 60's theme rather than the mod (twiggy-esque) theme. Thank god as I had nothing to wear! This dress was a last minute find at Primark (fancy dress is exempt from my shopping ban if there is a theme I can't do from my current wardrobe)
This was actually the first time every for me to apply false eyelashes. Although I didn't get them perfect (they need to be a little closer to my lashes) I was pretty happy with them and I was majorly happy with how cool they looked and I got lots of comments. The little red gems were added later as one of the party brought them along to make flowers on our cheeks, but I thought just the 2 red dots were better.
What do you think? Does anyone have any tips for applying false lashes?
These were a total bargain, they only cost me 99p at Home Bargains and I got the Nicola pair too, they have little tiny silver butterflies on them, so will have to try those next time.

Race for Life - Cancer Research Update

Hello ladies, sorry for my absence this week but I have been mega busy, but not doing anything interesting worse luck. I have been keeping to my 30 for 30 items though and I shall do a bumper catch up this week for you all.
First of all though I'd like to show you the cute colour swap parcel I got off Laurie, thank you so much Laurie I love my funky purple pens and my sweeties! And I would like to thank Nicole for setting up the great colour swap, it was great fun.
Now for a Race for Life update. You all know by now that I am running (read walking!) the Race for Life for Cancer Research, well just to let you all know I have now done the Race for Life, YAY!!! I did the 5k in 41mins so feeling kinda happy about that. I also did it in Fancy dress! Looking like this...
Oh yes! Minnie Mouse! It was on my friend Rachels orders that I compete in Fancy dress or she wasn't paying me my sponsorship money! Meanie!
It actually turned out to be great fun running (I actually speed walk quite fast! i.e. faster than most joggers jog!) in a costume as I got lots of comments and encouragement from the crowd. As well as my own bit of commentary on the tannoy system, which was also being aired live on the radio. lol! The DJ announced Minnie Mouse crossing the Start line, the 2k mark and eventually the Finish line, it was really funny. I had to wave at all the press cameras (and random people cameras) as I crossed the finish line so I'm kinda expecting to be in the local paper this week. (If you see me let me know!) There were very few people in full fancy dress this year but lots in pink stuff, tutus, cowboys hats, pink wigs, fairy wings and bras outside their tops.
I wanna say congrats to everyone who took part in Swansea and in all the other events across the UK!
My dedications.
There is still time to sponsor me. If you could just spare £1 it really will make a difference. Go to my sponsorship page to donate online, its safe and easy!

Hopefully a 30 for 30 update tomorrow as well as some great pictures of the Wow Festival down the bay.

My Hen Party!

So Saturday was my hen do! Yeah! And if you happened to read my post a few days ago we did a full day of fun activities. I apologise in advance for the photo heavy post! But quite a few of you did ask for pictures!

First we went rock climbing. These are all my lovely hens.
Me up one of the walls.
Then we went pole dancing.
Me on a pole.
Me and my little sister. At this point there was also a stripper of which I knew nothing about, but figured those photos would be a little to explicit for my little blog.
Then on to a night of fun and fancy dress. I chose a TV and Film theme and I dress as the beautiful and elegant Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast in Tiffany's.
Audrey and Kill Bill (aka Biz)
Audrey and Marilyn (aka Heather)
Audrey and Wilma Flinstone (aka Briony)
Audrey with Velma, some St Trinians and Baby from Dirty Dancing (aka (l-r) Kate, Erin, Jenny and Laura)
Audrey with Super girl and Cruella Deville. (aka Kelly and Tina (my sister-in-law and mother-in-law)
From l-r Lara Croft, Marilyn (minus her wig), Miss Congeniality, Alice in Wonderland, Audrey, Tracy Turnblatt, Baby, St Trinian (aka Rachel, Heather, Cath, Jackie, Me, Heather, Jenny and Laura)
Audrey and Jessica Rabbit (aka Jess)
Audrey with Kill Bill and Betty Boop (aka Biz and Rachel)
Audrey with Marilyn, Wilma, Alice and the Pink Ladies (aka l-r Hannah, Rebecca, Me, Heather, Charlotte and Briony)
Velma, Bridget Jones, Miss Congeniality, Wilma and Audrey (aka l-r Kate, Emma, Cath, Briony and Me)
Audrey with Sandy, Wilma and Roxy Heart (aka l-r Me, Lindsey, Briony and Linda)
Audrey and the Queen of Hearts (aka Zoe)
Nessa (aka Caroline)
Alice in Wonderland (aka Hayley)
So that is most of my lovely ladies in all their fancy dress gloriousness. It was a brilliant night and I didn't get so I remember it all, thankfully. This morning I am aching though! Badly! All the activeness of my day has left my upper body very tired, so I have been being lazy all day! lol!

I'm a liar! But here are some nice outfit pics!

Ok so I am clearly a liar! I said I was back on Wednesday, it is now Sunday! Lol. Work got in the way again. God I hate pub hours! I shall promise to try and start blogging more regularly. But when work is all over the place and wedding arrangements are hectic I can't promise to post everyday, but I shall try! I shall also try to read more of your blogs again, it's just that time is so tight at the mo.

So here are some outfit pics to make up for it!
Please check out my Chictopia and Weardrobe and friend me!

Feeling the 60's vibe!
Look at my hair! It's huge! Lol. That is what happens when I brush out massive amounts of back combing and curling which was inflicted on me by my hairdresser during my wedding hair trial. Saying that, I love it! Just wish I could do that to my hair everyday. Feel like an austin powers chick, hehe! The top was an Ebay bargain, £5 and it's Matthew Williamson, Yay!
Jeans: Peacocks (I think)
Shoes: J by Jasper Conran
Vest top: Primark

Alfie wanted to get in on the pictures, he is such a poser! My wonderwoman pose!

Rocky Horror Show!!
Self-explanatory outfit. I went to see the Rocky Horror with my sis and this is what we wore. Im Columbia and Briony is Magenta!

A day in Cardiff Bay
Me and the other half went down Cardiff Bay to shoot some pictures and it was a perfect opportunity to take some outfit shots.
Top: Nomads
Jeans: Apple Bottoms
Necklace: Handmade by Mum
Shoes: J by Jasper Conran
Hairband: Some where in Outfit
Jacket: Topshop via Carboutique market

I'm gonna tell you the little story about this wonderful jacket. I had a stall in Milgi's Carboutique Market. Which is a little second hand clothing market in a local bar. I sold bugger all but did find this Topshop Jacket. There was a guy who had a stall piled high with random stuff all chucked on a table. I had spotted a vintage scarf and asked how much it was and he said everything is £1, so off I went with my scarf. When I was packing up, he had wandered off for coffee and I spotted the jacket, so went to check that everything really was a £1, he said yes, so I gave him a quid and walked out with a lovely new coat! Yay.

Standing on the edge of Wales!
In the blinking cold Northern most part of Wales (if you don't count Anglesey!) This was taken when I was up in Caernafon for the Ball. Lots of layering needed!
Dress: Missimo Supply Co
Top: Next
Vest: TKMaxx
Socks: Primark

Evening out with Heather and Pete.
Similar to the outfit I wore here. I just love the purple and teal colour combo, I think it works so well. Plus I seem to use it quite a bit. Im wearing my new Cardi my mum bought for me this week. I love the bows on the shoulders!
Dress: Primark
Footless tights: Peacocks
Shoes: George
Cardigan (new!): Pink Soda via TKMaxx

Halloween pics!

As I promised... the photos from our Halloween night at the pub. Sorry for the 101 photos (not literally!) but I really loved last night and wanted you to see the different pics of the ones of us that did actually dress up. Some of the staff weren't so keen so for the first 2 hours of my shift I was the only one, but luckily I didn't care!

So here is me as Minnie Mouse. First pic is just after I put the dress on and the other half snapped me before I painted my nose on! Second pic is me at the end of the night with some staff drinkies!
This is one of my friends, Zoe who was inspired by Sylvia Ji's painting's of girls with sugar skull faces. I loved her face painting so so much. It took her an hour and was done with white face paint and eyeliners for Primark. I have been looking at Sylvia's work today and her stuff is brilliant (if a little creepy) and my friend managed to do the painting so well. Im going to do a little post about Sylvia later in the week so you can all see.
Grrrrr! Isn't she scary!
Andy dressed as a burglar!! With a dodgy 70's mustache.
Jess did a Cindy Lauper Zombie! 'Girls just wanna eat brains!"
Gerard was meant to have a Riddler costume but thanks to a postal strike it didn't arrive. So he wore his spiderman mask, with my fireman outfit and Jess's pink leggings (worrying and scary! lol) And ended up looking like a gay wrestler, lol! But this is an awesome photo.
Rachel came as a sailor and Alan was Elvis after finding an Elvis wig half way through the night.
This is my honey who didn't get to dress up because he was doing lots of behind the scenes stuff during the shift (cleaning and cellar stuff). But I got a quick snap of him anyway!
So that was all our Halloween shots. You like? We all looked a bit silly, didn't we? There were some really amazing costumes on some of the customers! There was literally everything you could think of!

So last of all, here are the two vintage beaded necklaces I bought off Ebay. They were dirt cheap so I was really chuffed when I won them. They are both genuine vintage. The blue beads are circa 1970's and the red are 1960's. And I love them! The red are flower shaped beads which are really funky!

Thats all for tonight. Hopefully I'll bring you an outfit post tomorrow as I'm back to work at the office so won't be slouching around in my dressing gown and underwear all day, like the last few days.
Oh and sorry for not bringing you an interview with my vintage shop owners, but when I called in Saturday to take pics and talk to them it was so busy in there I couldn't really talk to the guys properly. So I'm going back sometime this week instead.

Night all!
